Beautiful in Blue
Only a sadist starts a food blog with a dying oven.
Flip the calendar back to November 2020 and something didn’t seem quite right with how long my oven took to heat up, but hey, it was Covid season so nothing seemed quite right...
By Easter I had mastered how to bake with broil because it was the only way I could get the oven to heat up, even if it couldn’t hold the heat for more than 15 minutes at a time and frozen pizza took an hour to bake. A few weeks ago it took 20+min to melt cheese... even my broiler threw in the towel in the end.
But the wait is over—after 3 months of backorder drama my LG gas range finally arrived and she’s a beauty! I wasn’t particularly thrilled with the blue interior, but after a bit of research I found out the colour is meant to ‘brighten’ the appearance of food and make it easier to see while it’s cooking. Interestingly enough, when you turn on the oven light the blue virtually disappears.
If you’re looking for a new oven I’ve got lots of great things to say about this one:
5 sizable gas burners with extra griddle plate and oversized grates
Ultra Heat and Simmer Burner features
Smudge resistant stainless steel that is actually smudge resistant
Instaview feature - you knock twice on the glass and the interior light turns on for ~1 min before turning off
Steam self-clean
Remote start (wi-fi capable)
Auto-conversion mode for convection cooking/roasting
Additional cooking options:
Slow cook mode
Proof mode
Air Fry

Frozen meal setting
